Tomato Pappu

  




Hi Friends,

Today I am going to post another simple yet delicous recipe..."Tomato Pappu"..This is one dish that does not take much time & effort yet can be very delicous..In my home I make varietes of pappu's and this is one of them..Here is the recipie.


Ingredients:
Toor Dal /Kandi Pappu--->1 cup
Tomatoes----->2 finely chopped
tamarind------> size of small lemon
green chillies---->4
onion---------> finely chopped half cup
salt--------->as per taste
turmeric-----> half tb. sp.
red chilli powder---> 1 tb sp


For Tempering:
Urad Dal/Minapappu---> 1 tb.sp
Chana Dal/Senaga Pappu--->1 tb sp
Mustard seeds/aavaalu---->1 tb sp
Fenugreek seeds/mentulu---> 4
Curry leaves--->4
Hing--->pinch to taste
red chillies--->2
garlic--> 2 slices
Coriander/Kottimeera for garnish


Preparation Method:
1) In a pressure cooker, take 1 cup of Toor dal & wash it thoroughly.
2) Once the dal is washed properly add finely chopped onion,tomatoes, green chillies, tamarind, salt,red cilli powder & turmeric
3) Add 3 cups of water to all the added ingredients and close the pressure cooker lid and let it cook
4) Remove after 3 whistles.
5) Add tempering with all the above ingredients mentioned in for tempering...Adjust salt/chilli tamarind as per your taste..
6) Tomato Dal is ready.

You can serve this with hot ghee & rice...and along with some fry..It really tastes yummy :-)

Pesarattu - Upma

Hi Friends,


Today I am posting one of Andhra's special breakfast pesarattu-upma....I love this combination...Frankly eating pesarattu alone feels  like watching a movie without popcorn ;-)...and to top it off ..its the simplest of the recipies and needs very less preparation


Ingredients For Pesarattu:

1 cup Whole Moong Dal (pesalu)
2 tb.sp rice
small chunck of ginger piece
2 green chillies
salt as per taste
water
oil

Recipe:

soak moong dal & rice overnight or atleast for 12 hrs.
Drain the water from dal and grind all the above mentioned ingredients into a smooth paste.( Add water accordingly while grinding)
Batter is ready for prearing dosas..
Optional--->you can add finely chopped onions,ginger , greenchillies  and mix well..You can use this on dosas

->heat a griddle and add few tb.sp of oil....
->Once the griddle is hot pour a laddle ful of batter and spread it round with the base of laddle  & add few tb sp of oil along the edges of pesarattu
->wait till it turns brown...&  turn it to the other side .Pesarattu is ready to serve


Upma Recipie:

Ingredients:


1 cup upma ravva ( fine sooji)
2 green chillies
small ginger piece
1 tomato
1 onion
salt ( as per taste)
water-->2 cups
oil (2,3 tb sp )
curry leaves-->3,4
1 tb sp, urad dal
1 tb sp mustard seeds
1 tb sp chana dal


Recipe:

->Take a cooking pan and heat few tb spoons of oil
-> once the oil is heated add urad dal, mustard seeds, chana dal and fry till golden brown
->Add onions, curry leaves & finely chopped ginger
->Once onions are fried, add chopped tomatoes and let it cook
->Once tomatoes are cooked till soft...add 2 cups of water and bring it to boil
->In the boiling water try adding the sooji  and stir continuously to avoid lumps and mix well
->cover it and let it cook on slow heat for 6,7 mins...and then remove from the stove top.
->Upma is ready to serve...

Brown rice egg fried rice

Today I was tired after work  and I could see was some left over brown rice...and all I could think of was some fast stir fried egg rice...Here goes the recipe.


Ingredients:

Brown Rice (cooked)-->1 cup
Eggs  --->2,3
cabbage cut into small pieces
lime juice -1 tb.sp
pinch of salt

For Tempering:

Turmeric--->1/2 tb. sp
oil-->2,3 tb sp
Mustard seeds--> few
urad dal---> 1 tb sp.
chala dal --->1 tb sp
curry leaves--->5
red chilli-->3


Prepation Method:

->Take a vok and add few tb . sp of oil and let it heat
->Add all the ingredients that are indicated under "For Tempering"
->Saute All the ingredients till golden brown.
->Add cut cabbage and stir fry for a minute
->Break the eggs and mix it the way you would do with the scrambled eggs
->Once the eggs are cooked completely,,,add the cooked brown rice and stir fry
->Add salt as per your taste and few drops of lime juice

Summer Refreshing Drink-->Cherry Juice

Hi Friends,


Back after a long time....Its summer time now for us...and that made me think of this wonderful simple recipe.

Last week we have been to cherry picking and got a lot of cherries home.Now that I am tired of eating those cherries...thought of transforming them to a colorful splash of drink that could beat this summer heat...and here I present the simplest of simplest recipe that could be prepared in less than a minute


Ingredients:

6,7 red cherries
pinch of salt
few drops of lime juice


Preparation Method :

->Blend cherries, pinch of salt and few drops of limejuice together
->Enjoy your drink ;-)
